How can you trust someone you’ve never met?
The time-honored way of minimizing risk when entering into a business relationship with someone new is to ask someone you trust about them. But what if there is no one you can turn to who has bought or sold a business in your area lately? The next best thing, we believe, is to see what other clients have said.
From the broker’s viewpoint, the problem is equally vexing. It is possible to have a round of applause and congratulations for a job well done on Tuesday, and on Thursday be faced with a prospective client who wonders if you can be trusted and if you know what you’re doing.
We try to bridge this “credibility gap” by using testimonials and references. It’s not a perfect process, but it can help to see what others have said about us. Some of the testimonials are from business consulting clients, but they offer support for the integrity and wide-ranging skills of our broker in charge of business sales, Gary Richards.
Among our testimonials, we are delighted to have comments such as, “earned my trust“, and “overcame several challenges“.
Here Are Some Selected Excerpts
“We would rank Gary Richards with a Five-Star rating”
Regarding Gary Richards, principal broker for Pacific Northwest Business Brokers:
When we decided it was time to sell our business, we looked at offerings for our state’s businesses listed on BizBuySell.com, and other sites of the same nature. In looking at offerings by our state’s brokers, we were first impressed with his presentations. No pesky abbreviations, no jargon, just well-done point-by-point descriptions.
We were impressed with his method of calculating the Broker’s Price Opinion. It was thorough, detailed, and presented a scenario to help a prospective buyer envision their financing strategy. Our business was not easy to sell; it took a long time and there were a lot of tire-kickers. Gary did his best to minimize their contact with us.
In the end, we sold the business for the asking price. We appreciated Gary’s counsel not to discount the price unless absolutely necessary. Gary used an escrow company that was user-friendly. Closing went down to the wire because of bureaucrats and bankers but otherwise was well-orchestrated.
Gary’s handling of the sale of our business was well done and much appreciated. It was like he was right here, hands-on. We would rank Gary Richards with a Five-Star rating.

“To whom it may concern:
I just wanted to let you know what a loss it is to the Moorpark community to lose Gary Richards. My name is Elad Goren. I am the Chairman of the Board of the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce. Over the last 2 plus years Gary Richards has been an irreplaceable member of our Board of Directors. He has been on countless committees that have made the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce what it is today.
I am lucky enough to be in Rotary with Gary as well. For the short time that I have been a member of Rotary I have noticed that Gary is very highly looked upon and tremendously respected. He has given countless hours of his time to many charities in the community and has proven that he is a true giver. “
